Rev. Ellen Taube officiated the service with burial in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Clayton Centre. Pallbearers were Vernice Moon, Brian Gifford, Joe Rhomberg, Ivan Freitag, Carl Schmidt and Keith Meyer. Ervin John Breitsprecher, son of Albert and Ella (Hoth) Breitsprecher, was born October 20, 1910, at Clayton Centre, Iowa. He grew up and was educated in the area attending country school. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church where he has been a life long member. On October 20, 1931, he was united in marriage to Hilma Seeland at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Centre. A son Roger was born to this union. They farmed his home farm at Clayton Centre until 1958 when they moved into Elkader. At this time he continued to help on the farm and also worked for Powers Feed and Supply for a period of time. His wife died June 5, 1972. He has remained at home until a week ago when he entered Central Community Hospital, Elkader. He died there Sunday morning, December 29, 1991. Survivors include his son Roger, two grandsons, Brian and Brad, four great-grandchildren, Andy, Chad, Amy and Brandon, and a sister, Mrs. Vera Freitag of Elkader. He was preceded in death by his wife, and his parents.
