Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 26, 11am. at Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center. ********************************************************************************************************** The Clayton County Register, Wednesday,May 3, 1978 P.4A Column 3 Viola Marie (Schlitzer) Hoth Funeral services for Viola Marie (Schlitzer) Hoth were held Wednesday, April 26, 11a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, in Clayton Center. Rev. J.H. Zerhusen officiated. Rev. Ted Newton sang "God Will Take Care Of You", and "Just As I Am", Mrs. Donna Borcherding accompanied the congregation at the organ during the liturgy. Burial was at the New Clayton Center Cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Hoth Jr., Steven Hoth, Dennis Landt, Bill Hoth, Ronald Henning, and Bobbie Hoth. Mrs. Hoth died suddenly Monday, April 24, of a stroke at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. She was born July 4, 1905 to William E. and Katherine Eckle Schitzer in Garnavillo Township, Clayton County. Viola was baptized by Rev. J. Janzig at St. John's Church in Guttenburg on April 13, 1919. She attended community school. Viola belonged to Lutheran Church Women. Viola married Edwin Hoth on September 25, 1923 in a ceremony at Dubuque where Rev. J. Zeilinger officiated. After their marriage, Edwin and Viola farmed in Boardman Township until 1973. Mr. Hoth died November 2, 1986. Surviving are their children; Harry Hoth of Garber, Harold Hoth of rural Farmersburg, Dwane Hoth of Elkader, John Hoth of Garnavillo, Mrs. Lorenz (LuNida) Landt of Luana, and Mrs. Donald (Ivanelle) Henning, rural Strawberry Point. Mrs. Hoth is survived by 20 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three of her five sisters; Mrs. Forrest (Pearl) Dietrick of Dubuque, Mrs. Rosco ( Elsie) Larson of Elkader and Mrs. Willis (Daisy) Carrier of Guttenburg.
