Looney was held Monday, March 3, 1980 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Postville. The Rev. A. A. McAvoy was the celebrant at the funeral mass. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were her nine grandsons. Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Monona, Ia. Evelyn A. Looney, daughter of William and Agnes (Farley) Henkes, was born September 21, 1896 in Wagner Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She passed away February 29, 1980 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, at the age of 83 years. She was graduated from Monona High School and attended college at Fayette and Des Moines. She taught at the Eno, Gooding, and Farmersburg schools. On May 21, 1918, she was united in marriage to Edward A. Looney. To this union five sons were born. They farmed in Grand Meadow Township until they moved to Postville in 1949. She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Edward E. Looney; and a sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Christine) Meyer. She is survived by four sons: Raymond and Ambrose, both of Postville; Kenneth of New Hampton, Iowa; and James H. of Prairie du Chien, Wisc.; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Farley Henkes of Monona; and two sisters: Mrs. Ed (Eleanor) Koether and Mrs. Florence Klein, both of McGregor, Iowa. She was a member of VFW Auxiliary, Farm Bureau, and Grand Meadow Country Club. She also did volunteer work for the Allamakee County Care Facility.
