Tuesday, July 5, 1983, at Witt Funeral Home. Burial was at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Clayton Center. Rev. Dr Gene A. Becker officiated. Pallbearers were William Witt, Don Wolf, Donald Newbern, Robert Allen, Valmah Gossman and Maurice Larson. She was born in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa, November 7, 1922, the daughter of Hugo and Mahalie Kahlbaum Taake. She attended rural schools, Oelwein School, Elkader High School, Grinnell College and studied music in Chicago. She spent her life in the entertainment world in Chicago and California until she retired to Elkader in 1971 to live with and care for her mother. She died Sunday, July 3, 1983, at Central Community Hospital. Survivors include four cousins in Iowa: Helen Kruse and June Kelpien of Elkader, Ivadean Whitman, Marion, and LaVern Glawe, Blairsburg. Her parents preceded her in death.
