She first saw the light of day, February 21, 1827 at Gross-Gehren (Mecklenburg Schwerin) Germany. She left her native home in 1856 and emigrated (sic) to America. In 1856 she was united in marriage with Henry Vullgraf and for 43 years this couple shared lifes joys and sorrows. Her husband and three children preceded her in death. After the death of her husband, she lived alone for about 11 years, since then she has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Taake, where she received the best of care. She is survived by three children, one daughter and two sonsLouise, the wife of Fred Taake, residing here at Elkader, Henry residing at Farmersburg, and William residing at Monona, also 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taake here Wednesday forenoon at 11 oclock conducted by Rev. C. H. Franke of the Evangelical church. The funeral procession then wended its way to Clayton Center, where services were held in the Zion Lutheran church conducted by Rev. Wm. Wuestenberg, with interment in the Read cemetery. May she rest in peace.
