Pahlas, 78, former Elkader resident and a Dubuque physician for more than 50 years, died Wednesday, June 26, in the home of his son Harold, in Rockford, Ill. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 28, in Dubuque and burial was at the East Side cemetery in Elkader. Dr. Pahlas was born in Elkader and received his education in the public schools here. He attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City; Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md.; the University of Colorado, Denver, Colo.; and interned at the City and County Hospital, Denver. He practiced medicine in Dubuque for more than 50 years until he retired in November, 1962. Surviving are one son, Harold, and one daughter, Jane, both of Rockford, Ill. ~no source or dates
