Often it was just a line or two located anywhere in the newspaper. Might even say "xyz" Davis, was in town last week for his brother's funeral. But you'll have to narrow down that 1872 date. Depending on the frequency of the paper, could be in one or two following when the event occurred. And as Sharyl suggested, always check with the local area gene & historical societies and newspapers. They usually have a wealth of information not necesarily found on-line. Dick
