Joseph Lukonic officiated. Interment was in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum, Morman Coulee Memorial Park. He died Monday, June 6, 1988 in Hillview Home. He was born Aug. 11, 1899 in Froelich, Iowa to Frederick and Lena (Borcherding) Lange. he married Elda L. Wickersheim on December 31, 1921 in Giard, Iowa. He was co-owner and operator of the Lange and Popenfuss Plumbing and Heating Co. of LaCrosse for 30 years. He retired in 1976. He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Grace Peterson of Milwaukee, 2 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and a brother, Wesley Lange of Monona. He was preceded in death by a brother. His education was received in the Giard country schools. He was united in marriage to Marian Owen and to this union five children were born. He farmed in the Luana area until his retirement in 1966. Oct. 4, 1971 he was united in marriage to Sophia Drahn at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. They made their home in Postville. Preceding him in death were his parents, his first wife Marian, who died in 1970, a granddaughter, Janet Lange, and a great granddaughter, Rebecca Mueller. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services. Alvin John Lamker, the son of William Henry and Maggie Lembke Lamker, was born January 3, 1903, in Monona Township. He was baptized January 25, 1903 by Pastor Graening, confirmed April 11, 1917 by Pastor Wappler. He received his education in schools in the area. On November 12, 1924, he was united in marriage to Cora A. Breitsprecher at the Lamker farm south of Monona. To this union three sons were born: Donald, Lloyd and Duane. He farmed until his retirement in 1951, and for 25 years was custodian of the Union State Bank of Monona. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He died Thursday, February 28, 1980, at Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, after a sudden illness, having reached the age of 77 years. 1 month, 25 days. Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Lloyd, who died in 1929; and a brother, Delbert. Surviving him are his wife, Cora; two sons, Donald of Garnavillo and Duane of Monona; daughters-in-law Dorothy and Verda Mae; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his brother, Willis, of Monona; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her only brother, Roy Owen, and a granddaughter, Janet Lange. He was baptized by Rev. Warren Feller at Giard United Methodist Church and confirmed there. He graduated from Monona High School in 1950 and attended Upper Iowa University at Fayette. On Nov. 2, 1952 he married JoAnne Smith at Monona Methodist Church. The couple had 6 children. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He remained in the Iowa-Nebraska National Guard for many years. He made his home in Madison, WI where he worked in various outdoor occupations and as a superintendent of a condominium until his health failed. Before moving from Monona, he was an active member of Giard United Methodist Church and involved in many of their activities. He also was involved in 4-H and 4-H activities. Preceding him in death were his grandparents. Surviving are his parents, Wesley and Cleyta Lange, Monona; 2 sons, Douglas, of Madison and Daniel, of DeForest, WI; 4 daughters, Deborah Bilsky of Deerfield, WI; Darci Olson of Janesville, WI; Dawn Barr and Deidre Taylor of Madison, WI; 10 grandchildren and one brother, Duane of Monona. He passed away March 11, 2010, at 81 years of age. Elden was baptized July 1, 1928 by Rev. A. Dougs and was confirmed March 29, 1942, by Rev. Herman A. Siefkes, both in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Monona. Elden was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville, since 1954, where he served two terms on the church council. Elden attended Evergreen Grove country school then Monona High School, graduating in 1945. He married Beatrice Turner on August 14, 1949 at the Presbyterian Church in Postville. To this union three children were born: Georgene, Douglas and Barbara. Elden and Bea celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary in 2009. Elden began his farming career on the home farm near Monona, with a herd of Holstein cows he had started in his 4-H days. In 1954, he purchased a farm southeast of Postville. In 1968, Elden purchased his first registered Hereford cows, selling his dairy herd to son-in-law Darrell Hatlevig. His love of Herefords resulted in many awards on a local, state, and national level, and meeting friends all across the country. Proud times included selling breeding stock in many states, as well as to boxer George Foreman, and Alabama Country group member Teddy Gentry. Over the years, Elden was a member of the IA and National Hereford Assn's, Clayton and Winneshiek County Cattleman's Assn's, Clayton County Farm Bureau, Postville JC's, Postville Little League Manager, and a Golden Harvest Seed Corn dealer. A cabinet full of awards tells the story of his life in the Hereford world, including IA Hereford Hall of Fame, Clayton County Cattleman of the Year, Winneshiek County Pioneer Award, and Jr. Cattleman Supreme Sponsor. Elden lived an active life enjoying Certified Hereford Beef promotion, catering, feeding the ISU Football team, dancing, bowling, golfing, playing cards with friends and buddies, softball and volleyball, and attending his children's and grandchildren's activities from grade school through college. He stated that Specialist Third Class Land was killed as a result of multiple lacerations and of concussions due to misfiring of an artillery piece. The accident occurred near Frankfurt, Germany. Land was serving with the 267th armored field artillery. He had been in the army 19 months and planned to be released from service August 15. He took his training at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Before entering service, he was employed by the Luana-Monona Cooperative dairy. He was married to Lavonne Koehn, September 23, 1954. Survivors in addition to his wife, include his parents, Mrk. and Mrs. Joe Land of Luana, and two sisters, Dixie Land of Luana and Mrs. Walter (Rita) Hartley of Denver, Colorado. Mrs. Zieman had served as president of the Ladies Aid and superintendent of Sunday School at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, and held several offices in the Women of the Church work at St. Paul Lutheran, Monona. She was an active member of Peace Circle and St. Paul Lutheran Church at the time of her death. She maintained this love of art and painted or crocheted her entire life. Cissy and Tady lived on the farm until 1970. During this time she was very close with her sister-in-law, Rita Spinner Monroe. After leaving the farm they moved to Waukon, where Cissy worked at Veterans Memorial Hospital and Tady was involved with Northeast Iowa Sale Barn with the Nordheims. In the early 1970s the couple moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where Cissy became involved with property management. Working for the next 20 years, Cissy built her business until she was overseeing several apartment complexes and 800-plus units. Cissy and Tady retired and returned to McGregor in 1992 to be closer to her mother, sister and brother. They spent the next 10 to 12 years traveling several months a year to warmer locations across the United States and Mexico, Cissy loved to travel! In her later years she enjoyed her garden and flowers and she was always ready to cook an excellent meal for everyone. Cissy is survived by three sons, Richard Gene Spinner of Denver, CO, and Michael Lee Spinner and Scott Theodore Spinner, both of McGregor; one daughter, Barbara Marie Olivia of Mobile, AL; her grandchildren, Joshua Kenneth Spinner and his wife, Peggy, Simone Frances McKenna Spinner, Dominic Piunno, Carmen Piunno, and Jordan Jayko Spinner, all of Denver, CO; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones. Her parents preceded her in death, along with her husband, Tady; her sister, Myrtle Goheen; and her brother, Gene Bogue. Cissy will be greatly missed by all of her family and her friends. Dorothy was born on February 23, 1919, at the Waverly Hospital in Waverly, Iowa, to Otto and Hulda (Peters) Pape. She was baptized at Readlyn Lutheran Church on March 12, 1919, and confirmed on August 27, 1933, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Dorothy moved with her family to Monona in 1926. She was born second of five children. Dorothy attended school in Monona and graduated from Monona High School in 1938. She was an awarded guard on the Monona basketball team. After graduation she worked in Monona for Dr. Kettlekamp and Jasmin and at the Monona theatre. On August 22, 1941, Dorothy married Melvin Radloff at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. To this union four children were born. Together they farmed Melvin's family farm south of Luana. They celebrated 66 years together. As a young wife, she helped in a successful farming operation and raised the children. She and Melvin were enthusiastic Postville Pirate and Hawkeye fans, attending games whenever possible and in the later years listening to games on the radio and watching them on T.V. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa, belonging to Ladies Aid and choir. She enjoyed her neighborhood ladies club, The Home Garden Club, bowled many years, a Postville "Avon Lady," snowmobiling and traveling. Melvin and Dorothy enjoyed traveling the tri-state area dancing to Jerry Gilbertson and "Big Band Sounds." They were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville, Iowa. She especially enjoyed making many beautiful needlework gifts for friends. Her beautiful counted cross stitch will be cherished forever by her family. Dorothy was a wonderful wife and mother. Always happiest when the whole family gathered together. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and then the addition of six great-grandchildren. She always had a smile and happily appreciated all visitors at the Good Samaritan Center. Survivors include her two daughters, Sandra (Richard) Helgerson, Postville, Sue (Verdine) Houg, Postville; two sons, William (Laura) Radloff, Luana, Robert (Nancy) Radloff, Postville; nine grandchildren, Bryce Helgerson, Brock (Jill) Helgerson, Jermey Houg (special friend, Samatha Adam), Chad (Darcy) Radloff, Petra Radloff, Amber Radloff, Derk Radloff (special friend, Emily Schroeder), Bobbie Jo (Ryan) Bevins, Kristie (Tim) Hrdlicka; six great-grandchildren, Josie and Lydia Helgerson, Hannah and Logan Radloff, Carter Bevins and Ashlee Hrdlicka; two sisters, Emelyn (Lorenz) Lenth, Carol (Bob) Schillig; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Pape and Marilyn Radloff.
