My great grand father, Johan Heinrich Chritian Carl Meyer came from Eldena, Grabow, Mecklenburg, Germany in 1872. He went by the name of Carl Meyer. The family went to the Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He was married to Elisabeth Wille from Wanzer, Stendal, Saceh Anhalt which was Prussia then. They lived on a small farm a mile or so North of their church. I am looking for people in that area who are related to them as I am thinking they moved there because of family already living there - they had to have known someone there as the people usually followed family. Any ideas? Marlene Sandberg Hurney Sioux Falls, SD marsmemories@sio.micdo.net

Heaven's Very Special Child A meeting was held quite far from earth. "It's time again for another birth," Said the Angels to the Lord above. "This special child will need much Love. His progress may seem very slow, Accomplishments he may not show, And he'll require extra care >From the folks he meets, way down there. He may not run or laugh or play, His thoughts may seem quite far away. In many ways he won't adapt, And he'll be known as handicapped. So let's be careful where he's sent. We want his life to be content. Please, Lord, find the parents who Will do a special job for You. They will not realize right away The leading role they're asked to play. But with this child sent from above. Comes stronger faith and richer love. And soon they'll know the privilege given In caring for this gift from Heaven. Their precious charge, so meek and mild, Is Heaven's very SPECIAL child!" Author Unknown They are not lost who find the light of sun and stars and God. Extracted from an obituary in the Postville Herald newspaper, January 24, 1973, a funeral brochure and family information.

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Minnie & Gracie WARNER which was taken at the Lane Studio in Iowa. The name of the town in Iowa is only partially visible on the photograph so I'm guessing that it is either Brayton, Clayton, or Dayton, IA. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with the two girls appearing to be 4-6 years old at the time it was taken. I'm hoping to locate someone from this WARNER Family, so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of this family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
