I thought this might interest someone who lives in the vicinity of McGregor. Sharyl Ferrall _________________________________________________ Pat Matt portraying high-spirited Virgin Em at McGregor Library Pat Matt of Elkader will portray Emma Eastman, known as "The Belle of LaCrosse" and as "Virgin Em" in McGregor in a program open to the public at the McGregor Library Thursday, December 15, beginning at 4:00p.m. Matt will deliver a presentation in first-person, telling about Emma Eastman's nine marriages, and the deaths of her many husbands. The presentation is based on journals, letters, and newspaper articles on Emma Eastman's life. Pat Matt will share many colorful stories about Virgin Em's life, including taking two shots at her brother-in-law with a pistol, and Emma's statement that she was married nine times, "but I tried to make it an even dozen." Everyone is invited to this free program at the McGregor Library designed with the flamboyant nature of Emma Eastman.

MESSAGE: (#90740) Hon. Rodney W. Tirrill <http://iagenweb.org/boards/clayton/biographies/index.cgi?rev=90740> AUTHOR: Shary Ferrall DATE: 11/27/2005 at 20:20:28 Surnames: TIRRILL,WEEKS,TINKER One of the best known and most highly esteemed citizens of Delaware county is Hon. Rodney W. Tirrill, of Manchester, pioneer, Civil War veteran, financier, legislator, public-spirited citizen and philanthropist...... On the 30th of December, 1860, Mr. Tirrill was united in marriage with Miss Eliza Jane Weeks, who was born in Massachusetts on the 6th of October, 1836, a daughter of Samuel Weeks, Jr., and his wife, who was in her maidenhood Miss Ruamy Hall Tinker. Both of Mrs. Tirrill's parents were natives of Massachusetts and her paternal grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary war. Mrs. Tirrill remembers her grandfather well and recalls his amusing her as a child. Her father removed to Clayton county, Iowa and settled upon a farm, becoming one of the pioneer residents of the locality. His first home there was a log house, but although the room availability for the entertainment of guests was very limited, the spirit of hospitality of the frontier welcomed all who needed shelter. Samuel Weeks, Jr., died upon the farm in Clayton county in 1880 and his wife in 1890. Mrs. Tirrill is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. -click the link below to read the entire biography & to view a photo of Mr. Tirrill _____________________________________________ -source: History of Delaware County, Iowa and its People, Illustrated, Volume II. Hi Charlene, I really didn't intend for my message to Lisa to go back to the entire list, but forgot to change the 'reply to' address! LOL It is a pain to repost the messages, but it is a whole lot better than subjecting people to the trash we got yesterday. The IAGenWeb tech team has submitted a complaint to the ISP of the person who posted the nasty message to our genealogy boards, so hopefully they will be shut down. But more than likely they will be up and running again from different place within minutes. Thanks for your support. I really appreciate it.
