The Ida Fitzsimmons you found is, no doubt, my grandfather's sister, and the daughter of Eliza Boughen Fitzsimmons. She taught in a Chickasaw County rural school for a year, and then taught 1st grade in Lawler for 11 years. She went to Marshalltown after her mother's death and taught first grade there in Anson school from 1904 and First Ward school from 1907 until 1913. Then she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, probably to be near her sister Georgena who had moved there with her railroader husband, George Usher. Ida eventually became assistant superintendent of the Ogden, Utah schools. She died February 20, 1935 and is buried in Mount Calvary Catholic cemetery in Salt Lake City.
