His parents Terrence and Mary (Galligan) Commerford arrived from Ireland. P J Commerford born March 24, 1859,in Chickasaw Co. Iowa, was twelve when his father died at an early age. With John being born in 1870, his father dying in 1871 would make him about 6 months old. The 1919 history would not list the John Commerford family since you mention he died in 1910. However, another older brother Charles is listed being born in 1851 at Milwaukee, Wis. When father died in Chickasaw Co., he took charge of the younger brothers. Will transcribe the Commerford pages to the History of Chickasaw and Howard Co. (1919) and hope this helps in your search.
