Left a widow when her three children were small, she maintained a home here until they were grown up and then, after their graduation from the Nashua high school, she moved with them to Waterloo, where there were greater opportunities for them. About seven years ago she went to Dallas, Texas to make a home for her son Carl and her daughter Vera, both of whom had accepted positions in that city. Her daughter Nell has a position with the government at Washington, D.C. Although Mrs. KEYES had never been very strong, her condition had not been considered serious. Death was due to heart trouble. Mary Etta CAGLEY, daughter of Levi and Eve CAGLEY, was born in Chickasaw county, Iowa, July 28, 1860, the tenth of a family of fourteen, two of whom still survive, namely, two brothers, James L. CAGLEY, of Nashua, and Martin L. CAGLEY of Hoquaim, Wash. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Nashua until she moved to Waterloo in May, 1914, at which time her church letter was transferred to the Westminster Presbyterian church of Waterloo. In October, of 1923, she moved with her family to Dallas, Texas, where she resided at the time of her death. She is survived by one son, Carl KEYES, of Dallas, Texas, and two daughters, Vera KEYES of Dallas, and Nell KEYES, of Washington, D.C. Her husband, George H. KEYES, preceded her in death on July 14, 1897. Funeral services were held at the Nashua Congregational church on Saturday, March. 8, at 1:30 p.m., Rev. Wm. KENT officiating, and interment was in Oak Hill cemetery.
