You might find this page of interest - http://iagenweb.org/chickasaw/heritagenorwegian1.htm - Lawler is mentioned and several Olsen's which looks like maybe a Norwegian name with it. Not sure why all the name OLSEN name structures. Do you have anything more than just Olsen or Olson? She says she had a great-grandmother, or maybe a great-great-grandmother, who supposedly was born at Lawler, Iowa in 1869. Now, the only Lawler I know of is the one just east of New Hampton, but I never heard of Norwegians living > around there. However, Anne's father may have been working on the building of the railroad west, through Lawler. (I know it came into Howard County from the east, in 1867, because I come from south of Cresco, although I now live in Cedar Falls.) > > I have access to the Iowa Census records at the UNI Library here, and also to Andreas' 1875 "Atlas Of Iowa."
