Robert Johnston, a native of Ireland, age 80 years, 3 months, 18 days, died in Fortuna Friday morning at 10 o'clock. (June 12th) He leaves behind him five sons. -End of Obituary- Submitter Comments: Robert Johnston was born in 1816 in County Donegal, Ireland, came to America in 1837 and settled first in PA, then in Chickasaw County, IA. His wife, Sarah Selena Crowther, and three of his four daughters died in IA in 1876 and one son in 1877. His firstborn daughter had died an infant in PA. He and his sons all moved West after 1880. His five surviving sons were James, Robert, Joseph H., William B., and Abraham L. Please e-mail submitter if you have or would like additional information on this family.
