Hello All! I'm happy to see the activity on this list. Is anyone else researching the same surnames I am? My husband's grandparents are from the Alta Vista area of Chickasaw County. Charles August ERION (b. May, 1879 in IA; d. 1937, buried in Alta Vista, IA) md. Leah Belle CLARK (b. 8 May 1889 in Viola, WI; d. 16 March 1970 in Stockton, CA). Sue Picard was kind enough to give me lots of information on the Erion/Irion ancestors but I don't know much about Charles August Erion or his parents Christian Erion (Irion?) and Christina Kaufmann. I know even less about Leah Belle Clark. She lived in Alta Vista after Charles' death and married Herbert Lauck. Her father was born in PA and her mother in Germany. There were 7 brothers and sisters listed in her obit, Maude Clark Adams, Myrtle Clark Klages, Eva Clark Lusk, Mayme Clark Kintz, George Clark, John Clark and Clarence Clark. My husband's maternal grandparents were from Howard County, IA. Surnames I'm researching there include SMITH, TAFT, and HOWE. I live in Casper, Wyoming, so Iowa reseach is limited to a few times a year when I visit my son in Ames (Go Cyclones!).
