I am new to the list and am searching for information on the following couple: Alvin Flint, b. abt. 1822 in VT, married Sarah Van Valin, b. abt. 1826 in Poughkeepsie, NY. In the 1870 census Alvin is listed as the mayor of Nashua and a wealthy man, owning $112,000 in real estate and a personal estate of $3000. Living with them are Emma Turner, age 17, born Wisconsin and Arabell Clark, age 20, also born in Wisconsin. I have reason to believe these are Sarah's nieces. Sarah Flint is the sister of my direct ancestor, and I understand she died in Nashua. I would be VERY interested in hearing from anyone who can shed more light on Mayor Flint's life for me.
