    2. I have a postcard dated 1942 from a Pvt. John A. Hanly(?--last name difficult to read) of Sheppard Field, TX, addressed to a Mr. and Mrs. H. O. POTTER, of Nashua, Iowa. I suspect this to be Orlo H. and Mamie POTTER of Chickasaw County in the 1930 census, however I realize I could be wrong. I am not related to this family, but wondered if there is a genealogist out there who is and who might be interested in this pc as a family heirloom. Rebecca

    3. Hi Pat and Mike and members of the list, I have gotten a lot farther on this family that I ever thought possible thanks to sites like this one, and the help of people like Pat and Mike. Please look at the records below from the Nashua paper it turns out I was correct with the Drew family. Simeon Drew is my wife's GGreat Grandfather buried at the Mount Auburn Cemetery by Colman SD so Pat if you have any records on him please let me know. H.O. Stearns was the father of Frank and I think he died before 1900 and his wife married a MOON, there is a record in the Nashua paper that he visited his mother Mrs. Rosetta Moon on Sunday in 1906 so I am pretty sure she must have remarried. Viola Trask is the sister of Frank Stearns if I have things sorted correctly. Family Group Record for B. Surnames: Quirk, Dillon, Brannon Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Zk.2ADE/952 Message Board Post: I'm trying to determine relationships between Quirks in Chickasaw and Delaware Counties, if any. My gg aunt Johanna 'Anna' B. Quirk, from near Sandsprings, South Fork Township, Delaware County married James Dillon 18 Jun 1879 and farmed near New Hampton therafter. Daughters included: Mary F. 'Mae' Dillon Deyre, Cordelia V. 'Cora' Dillon Starkey and Regina M. Dillon Casey. There was also a Katherine I. 'Kate' Quirk married to a Brannon in Chickasaw County. Kate was from Delaware county and may have been a sister to 'Anna' Quirk above. WPA cemetery records for St. Joseph's Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton show 'Kate' as b. 1855 and d. 1901. The Katie Quirk in my family was b. abt 1849. This does not concern me, however, as this Quirk family was notorious for lying about their true age. Can anyone assist?

His parents Terrence and Mary (Galligan) Commerford arrived from Ireland. P J Commerford born March 24, 1859,in Chickasaw Co. Iowa, was twelve when his father died at an early age. With John being born in 1870, his father dying in 1871 would make him about 6 months old. The 1919 history would not list the John Commerford family since you mention he died in 1910. However, another older brother Charles is listed being born in 1851 at Milwaukee, Wis. When father died in Chickasaw Co., he took charge of the younger brothers. Will transcribe the Commerford pages to the History of Chickasaw and Howard Co. (1919) and hope this helps in your search.
