I believe they were married in the mid 1930's in Chickasaw County, possibly at the Little Brown Church (neither are living now). This has been puzzling our family for a long time as they were both from Wisconsin and eloped to the Cory family farm to get married. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A few larger projects have been in the mix; Paul Vasold found a way to clear up our township maps so we replaced all of them; the WPA transcriptions is still ongoing, added more of our military participants, added many more surnames to our research index, added more obituaries, worked more on our cemetery inventory, and more. Our volunteers and contributors for August were Claudia Groh and Paul Vasold and we thank them for the tremendous support. Visit our "What's New" page at http://iagenweb.org/chickasaw/whatsnewindex.htm to see what we've done in the last month. We invite those of you who have genealogy documents, photos, records, maps, obituaries, biographies, and so on which pertain to Chickasaw county to please contribute them to our site so that your data may be shared with others. Elsie and Andrew had a son named Watt. I don't know about the second marriage. My grandmother later in life went by the name Mabel which was her middle name. Her birth name was Zelma. I can only find a birth certificate on a Zella but no Zelma. What you have I believe matches.

So far I didn't get much from the Nashua Reporter. There is mention of a Vern, Johnny, Barney, and Earl Pauley. Just too many McClures when searching just surname but I found nothing on Zelma or Elsie. In other on-line resources I did find where an Osa Belle Pauley married a Joseph McClure. Wilbert McClure married to a Breedlove, two different Breedlove first names, and an Elsie McClure married to an Andrew Spurlock and a James Aleshire. Let me know if those are your family and if you don't have that info and I'll email you the sources. Sincerely, Mike

Might I suggest going to this web site - http://iagenweb.org/chickasaw/ . I entered each surname into the search box and got 83 hits for McClure and 98 for Smith. Nothing for the other three. I did a cursory in the Nashua Reporter and got 121 hits on McClure, 9 on Pauley, and of course over 10000 on Smith. After you look at the web site if you could provide a few key family names and dates and perhaps we can zero in on someone. Sincerely, Mike Peterson

I have a bit more on the family, although I do not believe the family is connected to the Chicksaw Landsverks....nevertheless it is worth a shot. Olaf and Josephine Landsverk immigrated to the US in 1904. They had 7 children, Anna, Salvena (Sally), Sam, Frank, Dagmer, Ener, and Margaret. They were in Superior WI in 1910, according to that census. I am interested in Ener, who would be my Grandfather. Thank you. D Watkins
