According to the release, "The Pedigree Resource File is a lineage-linked database containing genealogical data communication (GEDCOM) files submitted to the Family History Department by people who want to preserve their records and share them with others. Over 40 percent of the records submitted are from users outside the U.S., Canada, and the British Isles." The index on the website also gives information on purchasing the disks that contain the data, available for only $5 each.

This collection is described as: incomplete from 1878 to 1905; comprehensive from 1906 to 1969. Information in the database usually includes: .date of birth .place of birth .medical school attended .place of practice .hospital affiliation .date of death .place of death .obituary Submit you inquiries to: National Genealogical Society Attention: Deceased Physician's File 4527 17th Street North Arlington, VA 22207-2399 Include: First & last name of the physician, time period and location if known.
