Here is what I know. Johann Heinrich Hermsen was born 1753 in Hanover, Ger. He married Anna Lensing. Their son, Gerard Johann, was born 1786 in Lohne bei Lingen. Gerard Johann married Anna Mensen in 1814 in Schepsdorf, near Ohne, Hanover. They had 10 children as follows: Johannes Hermann, born 1815; Johann Albert, born 1816; Anna M., born 1818; Gesina Adelhaid, born 1821; Anna Helena, born 1824; Johannes Bernardus, born 1827; Anna Marie, born 1830; Gerhard, born 1834; Adeline; and Joseph. Seven of the children (Herman, Albert, Gerhard, Joseph, Adeline, Helene and Anna M. left Germany in 1842. After arriving in USA they went to Cincinnati and then to New Vienna, Iowa in 1845. Gerhard Hermsen (my great grandfather moved to St. Louis, MO around 1860. Most of the brothers and sisters remained in Iowa. Gerhard married Mary Coenders. Their children were: Frank A, born 1860; Henry E. born 1861; Stephen Bernard (my grandfather), born 1866; Herman B. A., born 1868; Antoinette L. born 1870; Dominika, born 1872; Joseph, born 1874; Annie F. born 1876 and Leo Edward H. born 1879. Stephen Hermsen (my grandfather) married Ida Mary Murphy in 1889 in St. Charles, MO. They had four children there: Stephen; Mabel, born 1891; Adele, born 1893; and Mildred, born 1897; They moved to Frankfort, Indiana where Viola Frances (my mother) was born in 1900 amd Gerald S. was born in 1904. Viola Hermsen (my mother) married Ferd Keller in Indianapolis in 1930. There were three children: Jeanne, born 1932; Carole, born 1934; and Ferd, Jr., born 1938. Viola died in 1939 of cancer.
