I have been trying to trace her parents in Carroll County, IA, particularly what happened to her father, Joseph Schwabe. We knew Joseph died in August of 1896. I sent for a death certificate and it could not be found in Carroll County in 1896. Grandma said in her interview that Joseph died of tuberculosis. Is there any place Joseph might have been sent to die near Carroll County in 1896? He had two very young daughter so contagion was probably a concern. He was German Catholic, married Mary Agnes Macke in Arcadia at St. John's Catholic Church. Any ideas? Thanks! Kathy
