He was united in marriage with Beulah Foxworthy on June 9, 1924. They farmed north of Coon Rapids for over 30 years. They retired to Coon Rapids in 1964. Mrs Booton died in 1972 and Mr Booton continued to reside in Coon Rapids until fall of 1975 when he entered the Westview Care Center in Indianola, Iowa, where he died on January 7, 1976 at the age of 80 years, 5 months and 2 days. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, two sisters, and one grandchild. The following children survive: Kenneth Gillespie, Leoti, Kansas; Virginia (Mrs Clarence Rohlfsen) Granville, Iowa; Shirley (Mrs J. R. Dusheck) Indianola; LaVonne (Mrs Alexius Sjoberg) Minneapolis, Minnesota; Arion (Mrs Charles Moore) of Des Moines. Thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters also survive. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. (JS) = = = = The Daily Times Herald, Carroll, Iowa - January 9, 1976 Virgil J Booton, 80, of Coon Rapids died at the Westview Care Center, Indianola, Wednesday, January 7, 1976. He was a retired farmer. Rites will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Coon Rapids, of which Mr Booton was a member. The Rev. Alfred E Rau will officiate; interment will be in Union Township Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Max Niles, Harold Smouse, Arnold Lamp, Keith Dorpinghaus, Duane Carpenter and Duane Baker. Music will be provided by LuLu Garnes, organist and Mrs Elaine Bowman, vocal soloist. The Ohde Funeral Home of Coon Rapids is in charge of arrangements. Mr Booton was a son of Albertis and Florence Dean Booton. He was born August 5, 1895, in Guthrie County and attended school in Coon Rapids. He married Beulah Foxworthy June 9, 1924, and they farmed north of Coon Rapids for over 30 years, moving into town in 1964. Survivors include five children: Kenneth Gillespie of Leoti, Kansas; Mrs Clarence (Virginia) Rohlfsen of Granville; Mrs J. R. (Shirley) Dusheck of Indianola; Mrs Alexius (LaVonne) Sjoberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Mrs Charles (Arion) Moore of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three bothers and four sisters. Mr Booton was preceded in death by his wife in 1972, a grandchild, two brothers and two sisters. (JS)
