    3. I've recently received some newspaper articles from a Cedar County, NE newspaper telling me that an ancestor of mine, Duncan Barr, was the proprietor of a "bar", also referred to as a "resort" in the Carroll to Manning area of Carroll County. Supposedly he did quite well in the business until Prohibition came along and he then spent all his money fighting the Prohibition laws. After losing everything, he moved on to Hartington, Nebraska where he was a very popular man, doing odd jobs, etc. He died owning a large home with money in the bank, so he must have done pretty well at the "odd jobs". In his will, he asked that his son be found to share in his estate. The son was born at Manning in the late 1870s or early 1880s. He did not marry his son's mother. Any information on the above would be appreciated. Duncan was, by some accounts, the Black Sheep of the family. I suppose that's why finding each bit of information is so interesting! Jean
