Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Gk.2ADI/1156 Message Board Post: LaVerne, When you originally asked me about Kramer's I told you they were on my dad's side of the family and that they to my knowledge didn't come from Kansas (originally they had come from Denmark). I have since learned that my great great grandmother's maiden name was Kramer. She (Maria Catherine Kramer) was from Oldenburg, Germany and married Carl Joseph Olberding. They married there. They had 3 children there before coming to the USA. I don't know if that is any help to you or not. Or if they are the same Kramer family. Let me know if there is any relationship. Ok? Thank you, Nancy

I don't have a birth or a death date for Paul. Helena was first married to Frank Wilkens 1887-1957, they were divorced. They had a daughter Hazel Wilkens, born in 1913. I wish I had more information for you. I haven't been back to Carroll, Iowa for a long time. Would you happen to have Paul's birth and/or death dates? When I do get back down there I could find his obituary for you.

    3. My MacDonalds/McDonald also lived in Carroll County, Iowa. James Orington MacDonald was born 28 Sept 1872 in Maine. He married Myrtle A. Allender, who was born 4 July 1880 in Merrill, Wisconsin. They lived in Coon Rapids, Carroll County, Iowa on 6 November 1909, when one of their twins, Iras Alphall MacDonald, died. Iras is buried at Orange Center Cemetery. She was 2 1/2 years old. Does this time frame fit Bernard McDonald's stay in Carroll County, Iowa? Can I ask the list if any of this MacDonald/McDonald information fit with their reserach? Pam

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Charles ANNEAR Classification: Birth Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Gk.2ADI/1153 Message Board Post: I am trying to locate the birth certificate of Charles ANNEAR who was born around 1873 in Lake Superior, America. His mother was Susan ANNEAR (nee THOMAS) who was born in Tredegar, Wales, UK. I believe his father was William ANNEAR and worked at a Copper Miner in America. I do know all the family were out in America in 1871 as I can find no record of them on the 1871 census records for Cornwall, England. On the 1881 census records for Cornwall, England, Susan ANNEAR was staying with her mother Johanna THOMAS in Redruth, Cornwall, England with her other children Thomas age 15 born in Redruth, Minnie age 13 born in Redruth, Susan age 11 born in Redruth, Charles age 8 born in Lake Superior, America, Lilian age 2 born in Redruth. Their father does not appear on the census form, so I guess would still be working in America. But on the 1891 cenus form Susan is down as a widow, so I am taking it that her husband died in a mining accident in America. Doe anyone know where Lake Superior is? If so do you know of any copper mines near there? Lastly where would I get a birth certificate for someone born in Lake Superior, America. Jackie

    1. James Hanford Ramsey 1825 - 1900
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Ramsey, Richey, Thompson Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Gk.2ADI/1148 Message Board Post: James Hanford Ramsey was born in Chester County, Penn., September 17, 1825. He died in Gray, Audubon County, Iowa, March 14, 1900, aged 74 years 5 months and 27 days. While he was a young man he went to Ohio where he made his home for a number of years. On March 5, 1853, he was married to Miss Nancy Richey of Osceola, Crawford County, Ohio. About ten years later they moved to Linn county, Iowa, where they lived a number of years. Later on they moved to Carroll county, Iowa, making their home at Dedham, where they have lived for the past thirty-one years. To them were born ten children, seven of whom are living and six of them were present at the time of his death, the oldest son, living in Oklahoma, was not able to come. He was a quiet man, never having much to say, but had strong convictions of right from wrong. Nothing ever persuaded him to say or do what he considered to be wrong. He was a man with a clean character. He was always a good, kind husband and father. The wife and children have nothing to remember but kind, loving words and deeds. He was always an industrious, hard working man, even after the loss of his good right hand. Never being willing to have others do for him when he was at able to do for himself. A year ago last September he had a stroke of paralysis from which he never recovered. He became able to be around the house for a while, but lat April he took to his bed and has been able to sit up only a short time since then. For several months he has been able to be up only long enough at a time to arrange his bed. Last fall he expressed a desire to come to Gray to stay with his daughter, Mrs. Thompson. His wish was granted and he bravely bore the fatigue of the long ride. He has gradually failed since cold weather set in. The last month of his life he failed very rapidly. All through his sickness he, at times, has been a great sufferer. The past few weeks his sufferings have been great, but through it all he has been so patient and bore his pain so quietly that only those who had the care of him can al all realize what he passed through. He never mad a complaint until his sufferings became so intense that they could not be borne in silence. But at last he fell asleep only to awaken beyond all pain and suffering. He was a member of the Methodist church, and in his death the church has lost a good member. The neighbors have lost a kind, good friend and the family has lost a husband and father whose only fault was that he was too kind and indulgent. But while they mourn their loss they rejoice that he has lot nothing, but has gained everything. “Asleep in Jesus blessed sleep.” Card of Thanks – We desire to thank those who so kindly assisted us during the recent illness and death of our beloved husband and father.
