Sievers was born Dec. 22, 1872, in in Tama county, Iowa, and passed away Feb. 17, 1952, at St. Olaf Hospital after a two week illness. He was the son of Hans Henry Sievers and Anna Arff Sievers. On Feb. 10, 1897, he was united in marriage with Caroline Steinhauer. To this union, five children were born, two sons and one daughter preceding him in death and one son and daughter surviving. M. Sievers farmed in Carroll county, Iowa, until 1919, when he moved to a farm, southwest of Austin. Here, he resided until his retirement, moving to his home in Oakland in the fall of 1946, where he lived until his death. He was very active in Farm Bureau work, both in Iowa and Minnesota and for several years, served as secretary of the Oakland Creamery. He was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian church. Mr. Sievers is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Guy, Austin; a son Arthur, Austin; a sister, Mrs. John Rix, Arcadia, Iowa; a brother, William Sievers, Carroll, Iowa; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Presbyterian church, Austin, Rev. Lyndon Schendel officiating. Temporary interment was at Oakwood.

Survivors include her husband, "Doc" Wendell Hobbs, Grants Pass; a son, Daniel Kepley, Grants Pass; three daughters, Jinny Cowher, Portland, and Connie Howe and Sandee Martin, both San Diego; a sister, Virginia Romain, in Louisiana; a brother, Verlond Campbell, in Iowa; three step-children, Doug, Charlotte and Andrea; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. (Tracy) Kepple, was born October 11, 1925, at Bayard, where he attended school. On December 21, 1942, Robert enlisted with the United States Coast Guard and served at California and Hawaii during World War II until receiving his honorable discharge on October 5, 1945. On August 11, 1945, Robert was united in marriage with Naomi L. Herron at Carroll. One daughter, Joyce was born to this union. They also raised two nieces Linda and Jane. Robert was a grain inspector and the family lived in Des Moines until moving to McGregor in 1963. After Robert retired in 1991, he and Naomi moved to Bayard. Robert enjoyed golfing, collecting golf balls, gardening and caring for his lawn. While in McGregor, he enjoyed spending time at the river skiing, boating, fishing and camping. For several years, Robert and Naomi wintered from October to April in Florida and Texas. On Thursday, March 27, 2003, Robert died at Guthrie Center Hospital in Guthrie Center, following a brief illness. He was 77 years, 5 months and 16 days of age. Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a son in infancy Van Wilson, four brothers: Harlan, Raymond, Morti and Charles Kepple; and two sisters Wilma Whalley and Hazel Williams. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Naomi Kepple of Bayard; daughter Joyce and husband Ron White of McGregor; nieces they raised: Linda Jones of Des Moines, and her children Tom and Tammy Jones; Jane and her husband Ron Rumph of Earlham and their children Ted and James Rumph; and numerous relatives and friends. Private family services for Robert Kepple were held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Rogers officiating at the Ohde Funeral Home in Bayard.

She was baptized in Bokeloh, Germany. My Linneman’s were all from that area. I do not have any data for Anna Maria born 28 September 1823. However, one of Joseph’s sisters, Anna Margaretha was born 2 September 1820. Joseph and Anna Margaretha’s parents were John and Anna Linneman. I do not have a photo of the farm (it's a beautiful place - big white house, nice red buildings) but sadly, it is now for sale, after 150 years in the Hermsen name. I will forward your e mail also to my cousin, Helen Hermsen Gaul, who is a wonderful historian. Perhaps she can give you better info.

Henry and Bonita's Childern: Paul Venteicher Gloria Venteicher Darrell Venteicher Donald G. Venteicher Born: July 27 1940 Died: December 22, 1989 Their son, Paul Venteicher, was a farmer, living near the Carroll, Iowa airport. I remember I knew one of their kids when I was in high school and he rode my school bus. I can't remember his name. This was back in the early 1970s. Hank and Bonita lived on the Frank A. Venteicher farm southeast of Carroll, Iowa. Frank A. Venteicher was Hank's father and my grandfather. Hank's sister, Julie (Venteicher) Hacker is my mother. Do you think that Bonita's father George Hermsen might be related to your Hermsen family? Let me know if there is a connection.

I have been trying to trace her parents in Carroll County, IA, particularly what happened to her father, Joseph Schwabe. We knew Joseph died in August of 1896. I sent for a death certificate and it could not be found in Carroll County in 1896. Grandma said in her interview that Joseph died of tuberculosis. Is there any place Joseph might have been sent to die near Carroll County in 1896? He had two very young daughter so contagion was probably a concern. He was German Catholic, married Mary Agnes Macke in Arcadia at St. John's Catholic Church. Any ideas? Thanks! Kathy
