On my great-grandmothers headstone in Breda, Carroll Co, Iowa it says she was born in Pleinding, Bavaria. Do you suppose that is the same as Pleinting? Her name was Maria Semmler Neppl. In the 1880 census, listed with Maria's parents, (Maria was already married) was a Michael Bauer from Bavaria, age 13. Do you suppose he was your Michael Bauer?

I am researching Barr relatives who lived in and around Carroll. I've recently learned there was a newspaper article written by either John or Matthew Barr probably the middle or last part of October, 1903, in the Carroll Times. I would really like a copy of this article and would be happy to pay for time and copying and mailing charges if someone has time to look for it. The article is about a two-month trip to Scotland.
