My g-grandfather Oliver Levi (b:1864) is the 10th child of James and Ellen (Hardie) Levi who immigrated from Scotland in either 1849 or 1850. Oliver did have a brother named William however, who was born in 1858. I do know for sure that James and Ellen were married in Scotland, and that James was born in Scotland, but I do not know anything of his parents. It doesn't seem that I've been much help. Good luck to you. Andrea

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Gk.2ADI/480.599.598.601 Message Board Post: My grandparents, Joseph Henry Kolker and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Wiewel, were married in Mt. Carmel, Carroll, Iowa on April 27, 1897. I found an obituary for Mrs. J. P. Bernholtz (Ann Baumhover) who died July 26, 1934, among my grandmother's papers after she died. Joseph sold his land in December 1906 to Henry Bruning and moved his family to Okarche, OK., so I don't know why Grandmother would have a 1934 obituary of Mrs. Bernholtz. Evidently, someone send it to her and she kept it all these years, so I'm assuming Mrs. Bernholtz meant something to her. Is Mrs. Bernholtz related to you? Would you, by any chance, have any old papers in your possessions about the Kolker families in Mt. Carmel?

Do you know the ancestry of your Oliver Levi? Abigail Tryon Lamb (whose father was Oliver Tryon) married William Levi in the 1790's. They lived near Sharon, Connecticut, I believe. Their children were William, Oliver, John, Phoebe, Betsy, Frances, Elizabeth, and Mariah. I have not been able to find any records of my William Levi. But I have seen references to a William Levi that would be about the right age.that moved to Indiana and had a son (I think) Oliver . Dianne.
