The Federal census for 1910 shows a John (born Germany) and Lena Namanny with two children, Herman and Sadie. John appears to be too young for your desired dates. However, the next household on this census shows an August Jurgenson, age 28, single, and a Julia Namainy, "Mother", age 68, widowed, born Germany. Perhaps Julia is listed in the wrong household or ....? There are also a number of Namannys on the Calhoun death index at ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ia/calhoun/vitals/death-n.txt Perhaps one of them is your missing "uncle".

She died in 1885 after having 9 children with her husband Claus Nahnsen. My question now is that my grandfather Nicholas Nahnsen, use to tell me that they use to go see some Namanny relation, after her death, in Calhoun county. I have seen one namanny who was too young to be another uncle. and I am looking for another who might have been born between 1840 and 1860. Any help would be appreciated.

Martin, if I were looking for Georgia, I would try to get her parents' and brother's obituaries and see if any of them make reference to Georgia. She may have divorced KIRST and remarried; a parent's or sibling's obit might provide a new married name and/or place of residence for her. Otherwise, it might make mention her as preceding them in death. Good luck.

The following is a quote. There were five children born to this union: Glennetta, Verna, Mary, Pete and Hattie, who died in infancy. Glennetta married Clarence Bain. They lived to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. Clarence Bain was associated for many years with George Bearen in a successful mercantile business. Glennetta Bain passed away in 1974 at the age of 102. Verna, the second daughter, returned from California in her later years to live near her daughter Elsie who was married to Melford Johnston. Verna passed away in 1979 at the age of 102. Melford and Elsie Johnston had two sons, Michael and Gary, both born and raised in Lake City. Submitted by: Mrs. M.W. Johnston End quote. This article was written in about 1980. I do not find M.W., Gary, or Michael Johnston listed in the Calhoun phone book. There are two listings of Johnstons in Lake City and one in Rockwell City but do not know if they have any connection. There are no Bain listed in the phone book.
