He is buried in Evergreen Cemetary. I could really use an obit so I can learn what happened to him. He died fairly young and left a widow and two children. Where does a person go for obituaries in Calhoun County? Thanks Tammy Russell
I have just added the 1902-03 Iowa State Gazetteer and Business Directory to the Calhoun County Web Site. These are scanned images that were sent to me by a volunteer. It is not the complete book, but there are many listings of other towns outside of Calhoun County. http://www.rootsweb.com/~iacalhou/busdir.htm I have also fixed the search engine on the Calhoun and Tama County Websites. I didn't realize it wasn't working properly until review time. If you have searched for someone in the past, please try again. I found that there was a Lena Gnehm Aupperle which I'm assuming same one in the name you list. My relatives were named Gnehm and lived in Decatur, Ill then Sioux City, Iowa. There's only 110 miles between Manson and Sioux City so maybe they were on a trip to visit my family. There's only 53 Gnehms with listed phone numbers in the US so chances are pretty good they are all related in one way or another. I'm in the process right now of trying to find my G G Grandfather Johannes(?) Gnehm info (wife Salina) that may have been deported prior to WWI.

For those of you doing Internet research, have you checked out the following site? http://www.usigs.org/ It seems to have a lot of interesting links, worth taking a look anyway. Also, we are invited to add links. For description see the director's email below. Teresa <snip> Dear list: I do not know how many people on this APG email list have visited the United States Internet Genealogy Society website, but I am inviting people to take a look: http://www.usigs.org As state project chairman, I am seeking volunteers to help me add links for each of the fifty states and the District of Columbia. It is a massive task to collect all of the historical and genealogy society links for each state plus other important links and keep them active and current. It would be nice if I had a contact person for each state. You can visit the state project at: http://www.usigs.org/library.gensoc. The society is also looking for people who might be interested in helping with our books online transcription project or assisting the webmaster by adding new material as it becomes available. The oldest brother of my grgrandmother would have been born around 1836 in Lindholm Schleswig-Holstein. The two Nahnsen males on the list above them( John and Emil) would have been the Hans Namanny's nephews, as they were my grandfathers brothers. My grgrandmother had nine children from 1874 until 1885 from Claus Nahnsen, he then married a Louise Preiss and had 8 more from 1886 until 1906. Thanks for your help and may you have a merry Christmas.

My grgrandmother who passed away in 1885, had an older brother according to the census of Lindholm Denmark, which later became Germany In 1864, of 1860by the name of Hans, who should have been born around 1836. The farmers listing kind of makes me wonder, because the father of the Namanny children is named Nommen Namanny, but he was born around 1816 and his wife's name was Inga Sophia Namanny nee Andersen. The Lorenz and August Namanny of Crawford County are her brothers, as was Carsten Namanny who went to Alameda California. Thanks for your help and may you have a merry Christmas.
