Surnames: Kofood Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Fk.2ADI/596 Message Board Post: Trying to help a friend of mine: Quote My name is Sigurd Nilsson and I live in Askeröd in the south of Sweden. (My e-mail is sigurd.nilsson@swipnet.se and my mail-address is Sigurd Nilsson, Askeröd, S-242 97 Hörby, Sweden.) I have done some research on behalf of my wife and we have found out quit a lot about her family. Our knowledge in English is unfortunately not so good. We have had help of our son to translate this (johan.grimberg@telia.com). September the 18th 1839 Wefts Jörgen Peter Kofoed was born on St. Holländergård in Olsker, Bornholm, Denmark. 5/23 1863 his son Hans Jörgen Kofoed was born. He emigrated to the USA and 4/14 1884 he came to Mason City and married Sofie Seis, who was born in Germany 1875. We have information that Hans and Sofie Kofoot (he changed his name a bit, Jörgen became George and Kofoed became Kofood) lived in Rockwell, Iowa, in 1918. 7/14 1943 Hans died in Rockwell Hospital. Back to Bornholm, Denmark, and our relation to Hans Kofoot: Hans father, Wefst Kofoed, remarried Johanne Karoline Bohn from Sandvig, Bornholm, and their daughter Christine Karoline was born in 3/6 1879. Christine emigrated to Sweden and 1905 she married Efraim Davidsson from Pataholm, a small village outside Kalmar in the southeast of Sweden. She changes her name to Kristina Davidsson. Kristina died on Öland (an island outside of Kalmar) 1957. Efraim and Kristina gave birth to 4 children. The oldest Ingeborg (Bojan) was born 1907. Ingeborg married Sigfrid Lindström and they gave birth to Gun 4/6 1939. 1/19 1963 Gun marries Sigurd Nilsson and they now have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. I hope this information is of any use for you. We have a lot more about the family if you are interested (we have ancesters way back in the 9th century). Sigurd Nilsson. unquote Either post a reply to this message board or e-mail Sigurd directly. Thank you. Bo Nordenfors Lund Sweden

    2. Pat J.
    3. I'm looking for proof of my grandmother's (Pearl Ivy Sikes/Sykes) birth in 1881. She was the illegitimate child of Ida Iona Sikes/Sykes and family 'tradition' says Ida traveled to the Lake City/Calhoun Co. area to have her baby. I believe her birth record is or has been sealed. Would this be true of an out of wedlock child in 1881? Are there any other sources that might be available at the county or state level? Pearl Ivy Sikes/Sykes was born 30 May 1881. Her death certificate confirms this but only lists her birth as in Iowa and the father as unknown. Thanks for any help you can give to point me in the right direction. Pat J.

    1. Useful tool for searching
    2. Teresa
    3. Steve Morse www.stevemorse.org has developed some useful tools for searching sites such as ellisisland.org and castlegarden.org Here is an update from another list: Steve Morse has just added an AD/ED finder for the 1925 New York state census for Manhattan to his website. The web page is at http://www.stevemorse.org/nyc/nyc.php. This AD/ED finder is part of an ongoing project to develop AD/ED finders for each of the five boroughs in the New York state censuses for 1905, 1915, and 1925, none of which are indexed. These other AD/ED finders were completed previously: 1915: Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens; 1925: Bronx and Brooklyn. The AD/ED finder will supply you with the AD(s) and ED(s) of the street and cross-streets that you select. Clicking on the AD/ED displayed will show you the boundaries of that AD and ED and the LDS microfilm number and reel number. Joy Rich New York Metro chapter
