John Dellinger-- John was sheriff of Calhoun Co. for 10 years (1925-1935). It says he grew up in Garfield Township on a farm still owned by the family. He married Alma Marie Johnson of Des Moines. John was a stone mason at the time and was building the state capital building. His daughter Opal Dellinger Miller and her husband, "Hap" Miller" both served in the state legislature. (This article is written by Opal Miller.) After being sheriff, John managed his farm land in Garfield and Twin Lakes Townships and sold spray pumps. Alma passed away in 1921. John married Anna Persons of Rockwell City. In 1949 he and Anna moved to California. John passed away in 1960.
http://news.com.com/Historic+passenger+lists+of+ships+go+online/2100-1047_3-6148931.html?tag=cd.top People looking to track ancestors who emigrated from British ports will be able to search online passenger lists of the ships that carried them to new lands. Released on Wednesday by Britain's National Archives, the passenger manifests give an insight into all long-distance trips made by 30 million travelers from the country's ports between 1890 and 1960, including that of the Titanic which sank in 1912. "We hope the digitization will open up a hugely valuable resource for genealogists and social historians all over the world," said Dan Jones, National Archives' head of business development. The records, available via commercial Web site findmypast.com, which was licensed by The National Archives, also show the passages of trans-European migrants. Many were Jews fleeing persecution, who began their journeys in continental Europe and traveled to British ports like Southampton and Liverpool to catch cheap sailings. During this period, thousands of Britons were propelled by economic reasons to seek new beginnings abroad. Between 1890 and 1914 an estimated 125,000 Britons emigrated every year to the United States, with 50,000 going to Canada and 25,000 to Australia. Trips to all continents are covered with sailings to South America, the Caribbean, West Africa and all parts of Asia. Initially only the period from 1890-1900 will be available but subsequent decades will be put online over the next few months. The lists provide an intriguing glimpse of individual voyages. What, for example, did 40-year-old Glaswegian spinster dairy maid Elizabeth Barr make of New Zealand when she arrived in 1923 on the steamship Remuera? Did she perhaps strike up an onboard friendship with John Woodrow, 21, a rabbit-catcher from Warwickshire? Or did she build a new life with another fellow passenger, 33-year-old London fireman Rufus Workman? Although the passenger lists have been available at the archives' offices in Kew, southwest London, for some time they are indexed by port of departure only and not name, making it difficult to find a particular individual. The passenger lists, which are presented online in their original form, vary. Some are typed, others are handwritten. Some record tantalizingly little detail while others give occupations, addresses and ultimate destinations overseas. Story Copyright © 2007 Reuters Limited. All rights reserved.

They left germany hamburg 15 april 1892 on ship columbia. Ernst luhmann family who was in his eighties. On the same also from Bleckede was Heinr. Mosel and his wife Emma. There are two listings for the Mosel family. Anna Seils mother came in 1892 on a diffrent ship leaving in may. Some one else arrived at that time, but I haven't recalled the person. If any one has more Information, I would love to hear it. It is hard to locate big surnames who came less than 1890's. I do think that grote/ahrens/ schroeder may have come from oldendor the same year. Once found. I will have to check my records to recheck them. I still have Herman Lusman family to check Jo Meyer

Jr, 1888;Gladys 1891 (married Guy Hoke); Tressie 1896 and Arthur 1902. Have found George Sr. and wife in Rosehill Cementary records and two wifes of I believe George W. Jr, and Jonathan (Alma Marie, and Eva Fern)and Floyd A, who I believe is Jonathan's son. I would appreciate any help with connecting the two women with the right husband (Alma Marie may have been Raithel; and Eva, may have been Smith to Jonathan and George). Is there a Calhoun County history? I am trying to track down the birth place of George W. Sr. who was my great uncle. Are there any Dellingers still living in the county? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheryl

Adela died in Lake City Sept 11, 1936. I believe there were at least 3 McCrary children- 2 Doctors Delbert and J.R.(Rollie) (married Olive MADSEN) and Effie McCrary MADSEN (Hans). Olive and Hans were siblings - their father(Hans) was my GGG uncle so I have lots of material on this family and some on the Gouldins, McCrarys, Comafords - Zola Madsen, and Davidsons -Lea Madsen. Much of this was gathered by Ralph Helm Comaford for his children. Newspaper clippings were through the efforts of another of Hans Madsen GGG nieces. Please post if you'd like more info.

Classification: Cemetery Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Fk.2ADI/938 Message Board Post: Hi , This is something I enjoy doing in my spare time. Because of the increase in gas prices and the number of request I have taken I do have to charge a small fee per cemetery to cover my expenses. I use a digital hp photo smart camera with a 5.25 MP and 3x optical zoom. (6.0mm-18.0mm) and put the picture on a compact disc so you can transfer them with better quality than getting them sent to you over the internet. I will send you a CD with the entrance of the cemetery. Any pictures you request from that cemetery, usually single pictures and grouped pictures if there are more than one headstone in the family. Pictures of any others with the same like names that may be there. There is NO limit on pictures, along with a picture of the overall cemetery, depending on size of the cemetery this can be a few pictures. Normally there are 20 or more pictures of each cemetery depending on your request. E-Mail me and put "CEMETERY REQUEST" in the subject. Send it to ladycoldfingers@yahoo.com for more details.

Farnhamville has only about 400 people in it so everyone knew everyone. Emma was a member of the Rebeckah Lodge. As I remember she had a sister who married to Mr. Post. I went to school with the younger Post children. Emma was one of the ladies from the Methodist Church who gave a wedding shower for my wife and me. We moved away when I joined the Air Force in 1951 and we returned four years later for a brief time, so I have no recollection of when either she or Herman passed away. For current information I suggest you write to the Franhamville Library, Farhamville, Iowa 50538. The local people will probably be able to find more information. Good Luck!.

My Grandfather Howard Case Moore lived near Barnum and had 6 children born there. They removed to Missouri and had 4 more, Moore, Children!!!!! Thanks again.
