You are all invited to Halloween Bash!! No cover charge!! It's a 'Bash' where you will meet a group of fun people and have a great time! The honored guests at this year's 'Bash' are IAGenWeb's four orphaned counties, Greene, Montgomery, Osceola and Wayne. Each of our four orphan counties are in need of a bit of TLC from someone who loves genealogy, enjoys giving and likes sharing with others. What are the requirements you ask? An Internet connection, a very basic knowledge of HTML, and the ability (or willingness to learn) to FTP (upload) files to a server. There are no dumb questions and there is always someone handy to help answer a question. Many tips and helps are posted on the IAGenWeb Forum for all coordinators. If you're interested in hosting Greene, Montgomery, Osceola or Wayne counties email us for an application. We'd love to welcome you into our "family"! This invitation is open also to any current county coordinators who would like to adopt another county. Just email us and we will get an application to you! And remember .... if you would like to have your name placed on a waiting list for a county (that is already taken) we can do that too! Just tell us what county. Each of our six orphan counties are in need of a bit of TLC. Someone who loves genealogy, enjoys giving and likes sharing with others. An Internet connection, a very basic knowledge of HTML, and the ability (or willingness to learn) to FTP (upload) files to a server. Most of us started with our internet connection and a very shaky knowledge (some shakier than others) of the other two requirements. We learned on the job and kept learning, often from each other. There are no dumb questions and there is always someone handy to help answer a question. Many tips and helps are posted on the IAGenWeb Forum for all coordinators. If you're interested in hosting Greene, Keokuk, Lucas, Montgomery, Osceola or Tama counties email us for an application. We'd love to welcome you into our family! Parker family, saying you have two known children for a Jonathan Davis Parker. and a Mattie Lavelle Parker. Their names match with two of the five children I have listed, one of whom is my Great grandfather. I would be happy to share everything I have about them. I don't have anything earlier than Jonathan David (Davis?) Parker. I have his birthdate as 1-1-1850 according to notes my mom took from my great grandmother. Jonathan David Parker is my great-great-grandfather. Unfortunately that is as far back as the notes are clear for me. I saw your later post on William Parker. Do you have any info about Jonathan Bently's folks or siblings? Labor Day is here and school is about to start! Indian summer is wonderful and you can feel Fall is in the air! Football and tailgate parties are underway and it's time to think about fun and fascinating indoor activities to keep us busy. Like... how about adopting an Iowa county!!! We have a group of six wonderful counties now that need you--no, not the other guy, YOU. You don't have to live in or close to Iowa. You don't have to be a computer whiz, and you don't have to know all there is to know about genealogy. If you're reading this, you have the necessary equipment and an interest in family history. That's most of what you need, right there. The available counties are Greene, Keokuk, Lucas, Montgomery, Osceola and Pocahontas. Why not visit them and think about all of the possible things you could do to improve the county, then pick your favorite! Send an email request for information and an application form to welcome_to_iagenweb@iagenweb.org. We know you'll be glad you did! Constance Diamond Linda Ziemann Welcome Hostess Co-Chairs IAGenWeb
