Petersen Sr., 85, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, formerly of Loveland, died Jan. 16, 2003, in Cedar Falls. He was born Jan. 11, 1918, to Andrew and Suzanne Andersen Petersen in Waterloo, Iowa. On April 11, 1942, he married Karen Christensen in Waterloo. Mr. Petersen was a designer for John Deere and Co. in Waterloo for 36 years, retiring in 1980. He also farmed for 15 years in Iowa. After visiting Colorado for many years, Mr. Petersen and his wife moved to Loveland after he retired. They moved to Longmont in 1990, and back to Cedar Falls in September 2002. He was a member of the John Deere Supervisors Club for many years. He is survived by his wife, Karen Petersen of Cedar Falls; two sons, Harry Jr. and wife Cindy of Cedar Falls and Philip of San Francisco; three daughters, Becky Vauthier and husband Jerry of Waterloo, Audrey Petersen of Clive, Iowa, and Annette Madiska and husband Dennis of Longmont; two half sisters, Elda Kiegel of Loveland and Joanne Hawkins of Arkansas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Madiska. Services have been held in Cedar Falls.
