Mr. gr. grandmother was Wilhelmina Zwanziger. She came to Kansas with her Mother and Stepfather in about 1852. A family letter says she was born in Munich or Nuremberg and that her father died before she was born. The letter says she was the youngest of seven children, six girls and one brother. I know the brother's name was Herman but do not know any of the sisters names. Her Mother remarried a man by the name of TROUTS. He was from Saxony and took the family to Saxony for a while and then brought them to American when Wilhelmina was 14. I'm not sure when the family came to live in Kansas but the letter says the family went to New Ulm, MN and then it appears the stepfather died and the kids were on their own. The letter says Wilhelmina went to live with a family, he can't remember the name, except the woman of the family was named "Viola". The letter says this family lived in St. Louis. Wilhelmina married James Benjamin Turrittin in L! awrence, Kansas in May 1858. She named one of her daughters Ida Viola and Ida Viola Turrittin is my grandmother. Does any of the information you have mention any of these people? I'm most anxious to make some connection with descendants of Wilhelmina's siblings. I have a wonderful picture taken of Wilhelmina in St. Louis in December 1864 that I would be willing to share, if anyone is interested. Donna Barnickol
