Hello Listers, I'm a new subscriber to this list, trying to come up with a good explanation as to why my husband was born in Marshalltown, IA, in 1950 even though the family was living in Waterloo at the time. Did Waterloo or Black Hawk County have a hospital back then? If not, would the hospital in Marshalltown have been the closest one? In addition, would someone on the list have access to Waterloo phone books or City Directories from that timeframe? I'd like to find a listing for hubby's maternal grandparents, Chester and Lucy GILBERT. Chester was born about 1893 and was a veteran of WWI (maybe WWII as well) and I'm thinking he may have been in the Soldier's Home in Waterloo then. Thank you. Joey Stark
