My grandmother was Gertrude M. Strempke. She married Newton R. Evans. The 1910 census shows her working as a servant but I can't find anything on her family. I know her mother and father came from Germany. Her sister-in-law was Violet Strempke. At one time I believe I remember my mother saying say was named after her grandmother Minnie Strempke.

    3. The 1925 census of Buffalo Township, Buchanan County, Iowa shows: Ray EVANS 34 IL son of Newton Evans 60 IL and Mayme Mohler 52 IL IL Gertrude wife 30 IA dau of August Strempke GER Lawrence 9 children born IA Raymond 7 Margaret 5 Marion dau 4 Minnie 1 The Buchanan County cemetery book lists Stroempke and Strempke burials in Forks Cemetery, Perry Township. There are also many others in Buchanan County and there are current day Strempkes here. I'd suggest that you send $12.00 to the Buchanan County Genealogical Society PO Box 4 Independence, Iowa 50644. Attn; Mickey & Cathy That will get you an hour of research and a few copies. They will also let you know what else, if anything, is there. They have an extensive collections of obituary cards, newspapers, probates, birth, marriage and death records.
