Perhaps the Northeastern Iowa Genealogical Society in Waterloo, Iowa can be of assistance. Waterloo is in Black Hawk County, of course, and they have a wealth of information as well as volunteers to help research. Also the Waterloo Public Library also is full of Iowa history. Another source is the Iowa State Historical Society in Des Moines, Polk Co., IA. They are a huge and very organized organization and no doubt has all the information you want.
