    1. [IABLACKH] Ole Jansen census and I have an immigration paper
    2. Barbara Drummer
    3. Hi List, In looking for my ancestor Joseph Bray naturalization I find myself with a Declaration of Intention Record for Ole Jansen a native of Denmark saying that he landed in the United States on or about the 27 day of August 1870 and it says on this 4 day of February 1875. This is The State of Iowa Black Hawk County. On the same copy is The State of Illinois Greene Count for Joseph Bray a native of Great Britain and that says on this 25 day of May 1872. According to the National Archives and Records Administration what may well be MY ancestor Joseph Bray the certificate no (or Vol and page) Vol. I P. 480 and Title and location of court is Iowa Dist. Black Hawk Co. Iowa, Waterloo. Country of birth or allegiance England and Date of naturalization is Oct. 2. 1877. The Greene County Bray may or may not be mine? Won't know until I somehow arrange to get what is available at the Waterloo Clerk of Court but this one in Black Hawk certainly should be as he married in Black Hawk, Lincoln Twp in 1873, had kids in Black Hawk before removing to Wright Co. I did a quick search for Ole Jansen on ancestry, haven't checked HQ or other yet and that gave no Ole for Black Hawk but did return one in the 1885 26, Birth Demark, IA, Plymouth Co., America Twp, LeMars Third Ward but says Alien Without First Papers. ? Must not be this Ole. Anyone recognize this Ole I have this paper for? Barb

    3. Hi Again Dick, If a death notice gives the funeral home many now have a full obituary on their site too. If you know the funeral home or see it in the death notice that might be a way to get it. It might even be in a Des Moines Iowa paper within a day or so, the Des Moines Register most likely. Let me know if you need help to see and I'll sure try. There's no way I can go to Waterloo but might be able to help via online. 3. Hello Dick, My sympathy to you in the loss of your sister. The Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier-online Edition has death notices and in the col' on the left where it says Search Archives, if you wait until tomorrow and then type the word obituaries into the box above Search Archives it'll take you to a page where there are death notices. Today they have them for March 14, 15 and 11. If you click where it says Death Notices --- March 14, 2004 for example Place and name, age etc of those that died and when. A lot of papers anymore just do a death notice unless a family pays for putting in an obituary. I'll try to remember to look also. Here is the URL for the Courier http://www.wcfcourier.com/ Barb Drummer ----- Original Message ----- From: <dickbolt@his.com> To: <IABLACKH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 17, 2004 2:07 PM Subject: [IABLACKH] Waterloo Obit >Likely in todays or tomorrows paper > > My 1/2 sister, Josephine (Bolt) Dykeman died at 92 last night. I enjoy this hobby which was shelved for a few months. I need to dig into my ggrandfather's third wife's location. The couple lived in Waterloo when he died in 1916. His grave is unmarked, family had little money, when his internment was handled by the Salvation Army. His name was Loren DeVoe. His wife was Ariel Theodosia (Howe). I don't know where she is buried, she was living when he died. A funny thing, her parents are buried in a country cem. about 6 miles to the west of us here in northern Il. 1. [IABLACKH] Obit /cemetery/hospital Question
    2. Hi.  My grandmother supposedly died in the Black Hawk CO. hospital November 1, a Sunday, of 1942.  Volunteers have found a couple obits for me on two different Hazel Pablo's, a Hazel Jean Pablo (63) and a Hazel Pablo (24).  Both were divorced at the time of their death.  The Hazel Jean was born in Germany, as well as her parents and their last name was WEHMEYER.  My grandmother's  last name was WEBBER and her family were all born in Linn CO., IA. I'm confused because both obit's, and I've received many different wordings of them, say they were both buried at Hillcrest Cemetery (Blackhawk CO. Cemetery).  There is one gravemarker.  I don't know  which Hazel this is. Does anyone have this cemetery address that I can write to for records?  And what was the Blackhawk County Hosptial?  Was this a public hospital or mental hospital? Thank you so much for all help. Diane Shands
