It might help someone identify the people in the pictures if you could add the name of the photography studio named at the bottom. I could see the names but couldn't read the name or the location.

He was married to sisters Mary and Charlotte Hafer. He lived in Waterloo and was a very prominent citizen from what I have gathered. He was born in 1827 in Lycoming, PA. I would love to hear from anyone with links to our family and share information and gather a little more I hope too. Thanks from Carolyn Hagerman in Boise, Idaho

    2. Kathleen Burnett
    3. Dear List Members, My name is Kathleen Burnett and I am your new List Mom. I want to take a moment and let you know who I am and a little about myself, and how I work as a Mailing List Mom. I am a mother of 4 and grandmother of 10. I work outside of my home during the day. I am also a List Mom to several other mailing lists. I am actively involved in the genealogical research of my ancestors, many who migrated to and through Iowa I am a hands on List Mom, meaning I keep track of what is going on with the mailing lists I watch over and if you are ever in need of me during the day, while I am at work, you can reach me at KathleenBurnett@earthlink.net. If I do not respond to you in a timely manner you can reach me at Kathleen.Burnett@era.com. My goal for your list is to keep it a safe place for you to research, post and share information regarding your ancestors of Black Hawk Co., IA. Safe meaning a place you are not subjected to postings other than postings related to Black Hawk County. I have very few rules for the lists I watch over. The main one is to treat your fellow members as you would like to be treated. Also, the posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale and Flames, etc (in other words - SPAM) is not allowed and will be grounds for removal. Consideration for exceptions, contact me personally. I personally do not like Roll Calls, but if you the list members do, please contact me and I will call one for you, ALWAYS with a published beginning date and ending date. If you would like to visit the archived messages for this list, you only need to go to http://archiver.rootsweb.com and type in the name of this list, in this case IABLACKH From there you can search by date. There is a great Rootsweb site, Password Central where you can go if you would like to find out what Rootsweb lists you are a member of..or..you need to unsubscribe from a list or several lists. Just go to http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com and follow the instructions. The Gateway between the Rootsweb Black Hawk Co., IA Board and mailing list is open. I wish for each of you success with your most difficult genealogical mystery and look forward to getting to know you. Kathleen Burnett List Mom

    3. Sorry for the blank. It ttok off without me... I forgot my Virdens; Thomas and Daniel. Thomas married one of my Strawns, Emma, and Daniel married Ann Penrose, sister of my great grandfather. Also, some more of my Murrays; Iva Murray Hanover had a boarding house in Waterloo around 1920. She was there with son, Leo, daughter, Gladys and Gladys' husband, Harold Scroggy and daughter, Rachael. By 1930, they had disappeared... I understand Iva married a Larcen at some point since her Hanover husband was deceased. I could find nothing on the GenWeb site and don't know where else to look. Thanks for any help!
