    3. The Jubilee - Westburg Cemetery is in Section 1 of Spring Creek Township 1 mile west of the Buchanan County line in Black Hawk County. This is associated with the Zion Lutheran Church there. From I-380 take the Jesup exit north on V65 (Benson Shady Grove Ave.) turn west at ?. I don't have a plat for Black Hawk County. I don't know the name of the road but someone else on here might. I do have a compiled listing of the burials done in 1980 by the Buchanan County Genealogical Society. Also, a large share of these burials are related to my husband and I have done some research on them. If you'd let me know a name, I'll see if I can help. Karen Hoaglan

    1. Calvin Miller in Waterloo
    2. Cindy Foster
    3. Cal Miller, my great grandfather is the same man mentioned in this email and brother to Madeira, son of Jacob & Maggie MAUST Miller. I'm going to open up a can of worms here and hope someone might have some information. Cal fathered a son after the birth of his 4 daughters (Esto, Viola, Alyce and Dorotha). Estimated time frame - 1910-1935. Cal's daughter Esto, told her son Harrison Strayer, that the child's mother was invited to her 2nd marriage to Paul Sneckenberger 22 Jun 1939. The woman may have lived in one of the houses owned by Cal in western Waterloo. In Cal's later years he became active in Boy Scouts, Esto explained that he participated in these activities with his son. Anyone on the list have any information about this child? 3. Hi Janan, It's been a while since we touched bases. I just emailed Shelley & Tomas about the photo of Madeira. I'd love to have the photo, as old family photos are a big part of my research (my living room walls are filled with old photographs). Did you know Aunt Esto Sneckenberger died last year, followed a few months later by her son Harrison? I would assume that the young boy in the 1880 Federal Census in Orange was the Cal Miller in Waterloo who owned Cal Miller Drug Store. He lived on West Forth Street and I remember staying at their home overnight with his granddaughter, Joanne Priebe. He had a number of daughters, including Dortha PRIEBE and a daughter who married a WAGNER. I believe that there are several people who have been researching this family. If you don't get an answer from another member of this family I can give you several emails of members that I know of. As of two years ago one of the daughters of Cal was living at Friendship Village in Waterloo and was over 100 years old. 1. LANDAN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley & Tomas Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Vera E. LANDAN which was taken at the Simmons Studio in Waterloo, Iowa. The photograph was probably taken in the early 1900's with Vera noted as 14 years old at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate what I believe is Vera's family in the 1910 census of Bennington, IA. The census records include the family of Henry W. LANDAN as follows: Henry W. LANDAN age 40 married 15 years b. IL Parents b. in Germany Farmer Kathelina LANDAN age 33 married 15 years with 7 children b. Germany Parents b. in Germany Housewife Vera E. LANDAN age 14 b. IL Jerome V. LANDAN age 12 b. IL Everett F. LANDAN age 10 b. IA Clarence A. LANDAN age 8 b. IA Wilber A. LANDAN age 5 b. IA John W. LANDAN age 4 b. IA Carl O. LANDAN age 1 b. IA I'm hoping to locate someone from Vera's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Madeira MILLER which was taken at the G. C. Reagan Studio in Waterloo, Iowa. The photograph was probably taken in the 1880's with Madeira looking to be in her teens at the time. The notation on the back of the photograph is likely made by Madeira herself, "This is what they call Madeira Miller" and given to a friend or family member originally. Based on limited research I believe that this is a photograph of Madeira MILLER b. 20 March 1867 in Iowa to parents Jacob W. MILLER and Maggie MAUST. The family was included in the 1880 census of Orange, IA with records as follows: J. W. MILLER age 36 b. PA Farmer Parents b. in PA Maggie MILLER age 36 b. PA Housewife Parents b. in PA Madeira MILLER age 13 b. IA at School Parents b. in PA Ulysis MILLER age 10 b. IA at School Parents b. in PA Norman MILLER age 9 b.
