    3. I believe the Waterloo Courier (sp?) newspaper is on line now and has obituaries for the period of time you need. I also know there is the Northeast Iowa Genealogical Society in Waterloo which has excellent records. Might have a volunteer or two to help. Thirdly, there is the Waterloo Public Library which also has a number of records on films. Hope it helps. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Vk.2ADE/1760.2 Message Board Post: Ruth, Claude GUYER's WWI draft card gives his birth date as August 23, 1888. Claude's entry in the SSDI: Name: Claude Guyer SSN: 531-22-9797 Last Residence: South Dakota Born: 23 Aug 1888 Died: Sep 1962 State (Year) SSN issued: Washington (Before 1951 ) If you haven't already obtained his death record, it might be worth doing so to see whether Margaret is listed as his mother; her maiden surname may be included. If the death record doesn't give you any new information, you could order his SS5 application for his Social Security Number to see if he listed Jessie or Margaret as his mother. If he lists Margaret, and if he knew her maiden name, then it will be listed on the SS5. By the way, I found the a newspaper marriage announcement/description for Claude's son Mansel. If you would like that, I can send you the image.
