    3. Hi Benton County, Does anyone have any information about St Steph Cemetery.? It may be around Fremont Twp, in Benton Co or possibly in Waubeek Twp in Linn Co. I found mention of this cemetery while researching the Rinderknecht name in the book, German Settlers of Iowa by Margaret Krug Palen. The book mentions a Karl Rinderknecht who in 1861 came to Waubeek, Iowa where his Uncle Martin Rinderknecht lived. Karl and several other Rinderknechts are buried in St Steph. Cemetery. In checking at the library, I cannot find any record of this cemetery. Does anyone know where it is? My ancestor is Martin RINDERKNECHT b abt 1814 in Germany. Martin filed a Declaration Oath for citizenship May 31, 1860 in Linn Co., was a blacksmith and lived in Linn Co. His daughter, Christena was born 25 Oct 1865 and grew up in Palo Iowa. I think Martin died sometime between 1870 and the 1880 census. I cannot find any records of death, or in the cemeteries that are in Linn Co Library and was hoping maybe my Martin is buried in St Steph. Christena's obituary in 1933 mentions a brother, Joe Rinderknecht of Moreland Kansas, and sisters, Carrie Brenmer of Atlantic and Mary Lightbody of Mason City. If anybody knows about these people, please contact me. I would love any information or ideas that you might have. Thank you Mary kmary@aol.com
