The Rev. Norris Swenson officiated. Born October 5, 1916, in Clayton county, he was the son of Frank F. and Emma Miller Hangartner. January 14, 1944 he was united in marriage to Gertrude Snitker. They farmed on the family farm, rural Postville, where they raised their four children. They retired from farming in 1970 and moved to their home in "Paradise Valley". He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers, Harold and Jack and two sisters, Mrs. Roger (Gretchen) Harris and Florence. Survivors include his wife, Gertrude; two sons: Frank R. of West Union and Terry, Norfolk, Nebraska; two daughters: Mrs. Vince (Cheryl) Waters, New Hampton and Mrs. Rick (Toni) Chapman of LeSueur, Minnesota; his stepmother, Mrs. Ella Hangartner, Postville; six grancdchildren; a brother, Frank W., Whittier, California and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Volmer, Goleta, California. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery. Postville Herald newspaper clipping from my mother's obituary collection.
