She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church on July 16, 1854 and April 5, 1868, respectively. At the age of fifteen she came with her mother, locating at Guttenberg, Iowa. She was married to Carl Hein on April17, 1876, at National, Iowa, where she and her husband resided for two years, then moving on the McClelland farm in Clayton county, two miles south of Postville, Iowa. Her husband died on July 5, 1891, shortly after which she moved to Postville, where she has made her home since. She leaves to mourn seven children; Mrs. Amelia Mead of Waterloo, Wm. H. Hein of Castalia; August F. Hein of Los Angeles Ca; Mrs. Bertha Rounds, George F. Hein, Rudolph F. Hein, Mrs Edna Waters, of Postville; two sisters-- Mrs. Sophia Kregel of Guttenberg and Mrs Louise Eberling of Postville; one brother Conrad Meyer of Cresco, and fourteen grandchildren. One son, one grandson, one grand-daughter and two brothers preceded her in death. She was an industrious woman who numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She was ever ready to muster relief to the suffering and afflicted. She was a christen woman who believed in her faith and when the call of the master came she was ready to go to that beautiful city to receive her due reward. Relatives attending the funeral from out of town were. Conrad Meyer, his daughters, Miss Emma and Mrs. Paul Mose, Mr. and Mrs. John Eberling, Mr. and Mrs. John Baethke and Miss Elsa Baethke of Cresco; Mrs Henry Kregel and her daughters Mrs. Adolph Meyer and Mrs. Sopha Tucke of Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bugenhagen of Luana, and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Meier of Monona. Note by submitter: This obituary came from my Aunt Edna Waters' collection, the daughter of Caroline Meyer Hein. I believe that this obituary was published in the Postville, Iowa paper.
