KREGEL AT GUTTENBERG Guttenberg, Ia., March 15, 1923. Mrs Henry Kregel, nee Sophia Meyer died at her home here Wednesday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. She was 73 years old and native of Germany. She came to America at the age of 19 with her mother and settled in Jefferson township, Clayton county, where she lived on a farm for many years. She came to Guttenberg to reside about 19 years ago. She was married to Henry Kregel at Elkport on March 6, 1871. He died in April 1921. She is survived by four sons, Henry of Guttenburg, and John, Fred, and William of Jefferson township; four daughters, Mrs Mary Meyer and Mrs. Sophia Tuecke, of Jefferson township; and Mrs. L. Huesman of Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs Louise Eberling, of Postville; one brother, Conrad Meyer, 28 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Lutheran church here Saturday afternoon. Note by the submitter: This obituary came from my aunt Edna Waters' collection. She was Sophia's niece.
