Surnames: Burger, Nolting, Hager, Cooper Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Tk.2ADE/2383 Message Board Post: Services For Herman Nolting Are Thursday Funeral servicws will be held Thursday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. from Zion Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukon for Herman Charles Nolting, 87, who died Monday at Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital. He had been hospitalized for a day. Mr. Nolting was born September 7, 1878 in Germany to Fred and Dorthea Burger Nolting. They came to the United States when he was five years old, and he lived the rest of his life in Allamakee county, was educated in the local schools and farmed in Ludlow township until moving to Waukon in 1943. He and his wife, the former Lydia Hager, were married October 18, 1906 in Ludlow township. She survives, as do four sons: Reuben, Martin, Otto and Melvin, and a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Florence) Cooper, all of the Waukon area. A son Milton is deceased. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The Rev. D. D. Kauffman of Zion church, of which Mr. Nolting was a member, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers are Emmet, Frederick, Milton, Gary and Charles Nolting and Glen Cooper. Submitter's note: I don't know if this is from the Waukon or Postville newspaper. No death date is given in the obituary and the collector did not hand date the obituary. Maybe a Nolting researcher would be kind enough to post a death date.
