It is with more than ordinary sadness that we record the sudden death of Willie Laughlin, son of J. H. Laughlin, which occurred on Monday evening. He was in town on Thursday of last week, and was in our office at that time. Four days later he was dead. That dreaded scourge, diphtheria, fastened its grip upon him and he had to succumb. There is an inexpressible sadness when such a young life, just budding into manhood, with all its hopes and possibilities of life before him, is called to lay down the burden and be placed in the silent chamber of the grave. Willie was a grand good boy and perhaps he is just as well off as he would be had he lingered longer "between the barren peaks of the two eternities." But still we cannot refrain from mourning for his untimely end. And the father and brother and sisters, God pity them in their great and sudden bereavement. The mother and at least two sons have "gone before," and this crushing blow must be all that they can bear. We ho! pe that kind friends and neighbors may do all in their power to comfort and console the afflicted family. Submitter's note: Williams Burrows Laughlin died May 4, 1891.
