Moved with her parents to Saint Joseph, Mich.; later to Fort Wayne, Ind., and later to Iowa where she was married to James M. Riddell at Postville, Iowa, November 27,1851. To them five sons were born; William W. and David D., both of whom have passed on; Newton N. of Chicago, Wiley M. of Hickman, and Frank F. of Curtis. In 1857 they moved to Nebraska in a covered wagon, settling on the west branch of Salt creek about five miles northwest of Hickman. Later, owing to Indian troubles, they returned to Iowa, stopping one winter in Nebraska City. In 1865, at the close of the war, they again returned to Nebraska, and settled on a pre-emption about four miles south and west of Lincoln. After a few years residence they moved to Lincoln, later to Waverly, and Raymond, where James M. Riddell died in 1882. She was later united in marriage to David A. Riddell, residing at Raymond until his death in 1912. The past three years! of her life was spent at the home of her son in Hickman, where she passed to reward, aged 81 years, 3 months and 18 days. Short services were held at the residence Thursday evening by Rev. J. N. Bridges, pastor of the Methodist Church, of which denomination the deceased had been a member for over fifty years. Services were held at the M. E. church at Raymond, in charge of Rev. Lowe; burial taking place at the Oak View cemetery, Raymond. In these days when things of the world are allowed to crowd out the spiritual and family alters are becoming more uncommon, it is refreshing to know a character who, regardless of circumstances or conditions kept up this sacred custom over a period of 61 years.
