    1. [IAALLAMA-L] Cora Belle Laughlin (1877-1898)
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: LAUGHLIN, DOUGLAS Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Tk.2ADE/2265.3 Message Board Post: Obituary Cora B. Laughlin was born Nov. 20, 1877. She united with the church March 10, 1895. She was connected with the Sunday school from her earliest childhood and took the deepest interest in anything connected with the church and school. For a number of years the deceased has been in poor health, but since last Easter, which was the last time she was able to be at church, she has been confined to her bed most of the time. In her last illness she gave strong evidence of her trust in her Savior. Her patience in suffering and her sweet resignation has impressed all who have been at her bedside. Toward the last she was anxious to go and talked much about the "Home Over There". The Bible was ever by her pillow. The 23rd Psalm was a favorite passage of Scripture. Only a few hours before her departure she repeated, "Though I walk though the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for Thy rod and Thy staff shall comfort me." "I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Aug. 2nd (1898), at the age of 20 years, 8 months, and 13 days she fell asleep in Jesus. Hers was a beautiful life. She was beloved by all who knew her. Besides the parents, three sisters and a brother survive her. Our neighbors have been afflicted in the past few years so often that our whole people sympathize with them in no ordinary degree. That insidious disease consumption sapped her vitals and Cora went to meet her mother and brothers on the other side. She is at rest and may a kind Providence soothe and comfort those who mourn. The funeral was held from the Congregational church on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Pollard officiating, assisted by Rev. Barton. Interment in Minert Cemetery. Submitter's note: Cora Belle Laughlin was the daughter of John Henry Laughlin and his first wife Mary Douglas.
